Hanson has specialized experience with projects involving the management of coal combustion residuals (CCR) from power-generating facilities. Our involvement includes site evaluations and alternatives analyses; design; permitting; construction and monitoring of dry landfills, ash ponds, gypsum stacks and associated structures; as well as beneficial-use projects. We also provide design, permitting and construction-phase services for the closure of ash ponds and other ash-disposal facilities. Additionally, Hanson offers specialized services including environmental and hydrogeologic impact studies and closure plans, as well as implementation and long-term monitoring.

With the issuance of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s “Final Rule” regulating utility-generated CCR, impoundments and landfills will face intense scrutiny regarding dam stability and groundwater impacts. Hanson has the experience and skills to work with our clients to solve problems and overcome the associated challenges. We also offer waste management services to a variety of clients in communications, industrial, utility, petroleum and government sectors.
