Midwest substation geotechnical investigation

Project Summary

Hanson provided a confidential client with surveying, subsurface investigation and geotechnical engineering services for borings at a Midwest substation. The surveying entailed the initial staking and determining the elevation of the ground surface at two proposed boring locations with "as-built" coordinates and determining the elevation of the ground surface if the borings needed to be offset due to surface conditions at the time of drilling. Borings were conducted at two locations by a subcontract drilling firm and observed by a qualified geologist from Hanson. Soil samples were analyzed at Hanson's geotechnical laboratory. Hanson provided geotechnical recommendations pertaining to foundation designs from the results of the analyses.
