Redden marks 15 years of service at Hanson

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — John Redden, P.E., recently celebrated 15 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc. He is a senior railroad designer at Hanson’s Kansas City, Kan., regional office, serving the railway market.

Redden joined Hanson in 1998. His responsibilities include designing track alignments, intermodal and classification yards and drainage systems; and analysis and permitting of “quiet zones,” in which trains do not sound their horns when approaching crossings. He manages projects that involve state transportation departments, transit agencies and major railroads.

Redden has more than 35 years of experience as a railroad engineer. Prior to joining Hanson, he worked for 19 years in the design and construction department for the Consolidated Rail Corp. in Philadelphia.

Redden received his bachelor’s degree in business and economics in 1971 from the University of Delaware, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology in 1976 from Temple University and a Master of Business Administration in 1989 from Widener University. He is a licensed professional engineer in 11 states. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and its Committee 1: Roadway and Ballast.
