Musgrove joins Hanson Professional Services Inc.

ST. LOUIS — Michael Musgrove, EI, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc. as a civil intern in the company’s St. Louis office.

In his new role, Musgrove is evaluating project sites for soil liquefaction and lateral spreading potential, and he is assisting with engineering during construction on a large earth dam project.

Before joining Hanson full time, Musgrove served as a geotechnical engineering intern at Hanson in 2010. During his internship, he conducted seepage and slope stability analyses for earth dams and earth retaining structures, sized mechanically stabilized earth walls for external stability, and helped design pile foundations for railroad closure structures.

He also served as an undergraduate and graduate research assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), participating in the geotechnical working group for the Next Generation Attenuation Relationships East Project (NGA-East), a project that studies the seismic hazards for the central and eastern U.S. Additionally, he led the development of the site-response software DEEPSOIL.

Musgrove earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2010 and a master’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in geotechnical engineering in 2011, both from UIUC.
