Gaudette, Nelson celebrate anniversaries at Hanson

LISLE, Ill. — Two employees at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Chicago regional office recently celebrated service anniversaries with the company.

Stephen Gaudette, P.E., civil and railroad engineer, celebrated 25 years. He joined Hanson in 1994 and provides design services and project management for civil, track, drainage and utility projects in the railroad industry. He has worked on multiple design and construction projects, including for BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad intermodal facilities, and was a project engineer for preliminary and environmental services for the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE) Beltway Corridor in Chicago. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering in 1990 and 1993, respectively, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association.

John Nelson, P.E., a vice president and senior project manager, celebrated 20 years. Nelson, who joined the firm in 1999, oversees the operations of the Chicago regional office and serves as a project manager for major highway projects. He was the design corridor manager for a master plan for improvements to a 22-mile section of the Illinois Tollway’s Central Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 294) in Cook County. In addition, he managed design and plan preparation for the reconstruction and widening of a 3.6-mile section of the South Tri-State Tollway in Cook County; the widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties; and the reconstruction of Interstate 74 through Moline associated with the Mississippi River bridge replacement in Moline and Bettendorf, Iowa, a project that is under construction. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1984 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Florida. He serves as past board chair for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
