Civil + Structural Engineer selects Hanson’s Mendenhall as Rising Star
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Michael Mendenhall, P.E., S.E., a structural engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters, has been named a 2019 Rising Star in Structural Engineering by Zweig Group’s Civil + Structural Engineer magazine.
This is the eighth year for Rising Stars, which recognizes engineering professionals in the U.S. who are 40 years old or younger and who have demonstrated exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching or research or public service benefiting the civil and structural engineering professions, their employers, project owners and society. This year’s 10 Rising Stars in structural engineering and 10 Rising Stars in civil engineering will be recognized during Zweig Group’s Elevate AEC Conference in October in Las Vegas. Mendenhall, who earned an associate degree in engineering science from Lincoln Land Community College and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Illinois, and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers and its Capital Chapter, from which he received the Young Engineer of the Year award in 2012. He also is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
