Hanson study wins ACEC Florida award

MIAMI — A study developed by Hanson Professional Services Inc. has been named an Outstanding PD&E/Planning Project by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL) in the organization’s Outstanding Project Awards.

The awards recognize member firms’ achievements in Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) studies and projects. Hanson, which tied for first in the category, created a project development and environment (PD&E) study for the Interstate 95 and 45th Street interchange in Palm Beach County, Florida, that resulted in recommending the first diverging diamond interchange for FDOT’s District 4. The study showed this unconventional type of interchange, which would be the most cost-effective option, will improve traffic efficiency and safety at this busy corridor, compared to more traditional interchange designs.

The winners were recognized May 29 during the ACEC-FL Transportation Conference in Orlando.

ACEC is a professional organization of 51 state and regional councils with members from more than 5,000 engineering firms across the U.S.
