Chepkoit celebrates five years at Hanson’s St. Louis regional office
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Kipkoech Chepkoit, Ph.D., P.E., the chief geotechnical engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated five years at the firm’s St. Louis regional office.
Chepkoit joined Hanson in 2010. Prior to joining the company, he provided geotechnical consulting work for numerous U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ districts. He manages projects that require geotechnical exploration, report preparation and calculating, analyzing and designing soil-structure interaction.
He has provided geotechnical services for a variety of projects, including improvements at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport; an interchange reconstruction at interstates 170 and 270 and the improvement of Missouri 141, both in St. Louis County; the sinkhole repair and runway rehabilitation at Monroe County Airport in Bloomington, Ind.; and the Olmsted Locks and Dam replacement in Olmsted, Ill., for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Louisville District and the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge replacement from Moline, Ill., to Bettendorf, Iowa, two projects that are under construction. He is the geotechnical reviewer for Ameren’s Illinois Rivers Project, which is underway at various locations in Illinois.
Chepkoit received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1990 from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and master’s and doctorate degrees in civil engineering in 1993 and 1999, respectively, from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the Society of American Military Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Missouri and Illinois.
