Ballinger celebrates 20 years of service

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Lance Ballinger, GIS and database administrator, recently celebrated 20 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters.

Ballinger joined the company in 1999 and serves in Hanson’s information technology department. He provides database support and application development on several database and general computer applications. He specializes in data management and collection, database development, website implementation, geographic information system (GIS) administration and support and computer programming.

During his career at Hanson, Ballinger has worked on several high-profile program management projects, including a land acquisition and property management program for the planned South Suburban Airport in Peotone for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Division of Aeronautics; the outdoor advertising control support services program for IDOT’s Bureau of Land Acquisition; a statewide grade crossing and grade separation study for the Illinois Commerce Commission; the Indiana federal rail-highway intersection inventory for the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Black Creek watershed mapping verification project in Missouri for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District.

Ballinger has a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and master’s degrees in management information systems and computer science from the University of Illinois Springfield.
