Hanson’s Slager earns 40 Under 40 award
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Matthew Slager, P.E., CGD, LEED AP®, the chief mechanical engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., is a recipient of Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine’s 2018 40 Under 40 award.
In its 11th year, the award recognizes 40 engineering and building professionals age 40 and younger for their dedication to their professions and communities. Profiles of the winners are in the magazine’s May issue and online, and awards will be presented Oct. 3 at a ceremony in Chicago.
Slager, who joined Hanson in 2010, leads the firm’s group of mechanical engineers and designers on technical issues. He also provides mechanical engineering design for a variety of projects for government, education, commercial and health-care facilities and data centers, including a geothermal energy project at Camp Lincoln, the Illinois Army National Guard’s headquarters in Springfield; a geothermal variable refrigerant flow system for Glenwood Elementary School in Chatham; and multiple projects for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UIUC. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and New York, a Certified GeoExchange Designer (CGD) and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design AP (accredited professional). Slager is a member of ASHRAE and a board member of the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois.
