Seals celebrates 30 years at Hanson’s headquarters
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Kevin Seals, chief environmental scientist, recently celebrated 30 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters.
Seals, who joined the company in 1987, conducts environmental assessments and impact statements for infrastructure projects throughout the country. He also conducts permitting for Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, wetland and habitat evaluations and surveys of threatened and endangered species. He has provided these services for numerous projects, including the ongoing Springfield Rail Improvements Project and the Hunter Lake project, both in Springfield; development of Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area in Chandlerville; Washington Street improvements in Peoria; Tier 2 master plan and environmental impact statement for the planned South Suburban Airport near Monee; widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties; reconstruction and widening of a 3.6-mile section of the South Tri-State Tollway in Cook County; and the Paducah and Louisville (P&L) Railroad relocation for the Kentucky Dam lock addition on the Tennessee River in Kentucky. He also developed and manages the Grow Our Own Minority Participation Program, which encourages students to pursue careers in the fields of engineering and science.
Seals received a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1985 from Illinois State University. He is a member of the Association of Conservation Engineers, Society of Wetland Scientists, Association of State Wetland Managers and serves on the Center for American Archeology’s board of directors.
