Three employees celebrate service anniversaries at Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Three employees at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters recently celebrated milestone service anniversaries with the firm. Lee Bloome, P.E., and Sara Branson have been with the company for 10 years, and Josh Couey, E.I., has worked for Hanson for five years.

Bloome, a civil engineer, joined Hanson in 2006. He designs water and wastewater infrastructure, such as water distribution extensions, sanitary lift stations and water booster pump stations, stormwater treatment and detention, elevated tanks and stormwater collection systems. He also is experienced in computerized hydraulic modeling for water distribution systems, evaluating water and sewer rates and helping clients identify funding sources for projects. His project experience includes the Capitol Avenue streetscape design and beautification, city of Springfield public works stormwater reuse and bioswale project on Clear Lake Avenue and Springfield Rail Improvements Program stormwater management, all in Springfield; Stratton Lock and Dam civil site work in McHenry; Coffeen Power Station water supply project in Coffeen; and Devils Lake Creel Bay levee expansion in Devils Lake, North Dakota. He received the 2009 Young Engineer of the Year Award from the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers’ Capital Chapter, of which he is a member. He also is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois and American Water Works Association. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1998 from Bradley University and is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Missouri.

Branson, a technician, also joined the firm in 2006. She has provided computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) services for roadway, subdivision and site design projects. She works across all of the company’s engineering disciplines to provide contour analyses, intersection design studies and structural plans for buildings, bridges, culverts, steam tunnels and retaining walls. She works in multiple CADD software platforms such as Autodesk Inc.’s AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley Systems Inc.’s MicroStation GEOPAK for civil projects and provides CADD support to the company’s structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines that use Autodesk’s Revit software for building projects. Her project experience includes providing site layout plans for Wells Fargo’s building, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and Visitors Center, City Water, Light and Power’s Spaulding Dam rehabilitation and replacement and HSHS St. John’s Hospital parking lots, all in Springfield. She also has prepared site development plans for the Coffeen and Duck Creek power stations in Coffeen and Canton and the Farmington embankments reclamation project in Fulton County. She received an associate degree in 2009 from Lincoln Land Community College.

Couey, an electrical designer, joined Hanson in 2011. He has designed lighting, fire alarm and smoke detection systems for projects, including the widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties, Prairie Capital Convention Center addition and renovation, Lincoln Land Community College Capital City Training Center, Springfield Clinic 1st – 900 Building and Springfield Rail Improvements Program, all in Springfield; and Glenwood Elementary School addition in Chatham. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2011 and is a licensed engineer intern in Illinois.
