Rice named assistant vice president at Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — William Rice, P.E., CFM, D.WRE, a senior water resources engineer, recently was named an assistant vice president at Hanson Professional Services Inc. With more than 30 years of water resources and surveying experience, he serves as the technical lead for Hanson’s water resources services.

Rice joined the firm in 2004, helping Hanson establish and grow its water resources practice.  His experience includes flood control design, levee design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, dam operations and drainage studies as well as extensive surveying experience.  Throughout his career, he has coordinated study efforts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Geological Survey, and various Illinois counties and municipalities.

He is involved in several organizations including the International Association of Hydraulic Engineers and Research, International Water Resources Association, National Groundwater Association, Society of American Military Engineers, American Academy of Water Resources Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Rice has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin—Platteville. In addition, he has a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Southern Illinois University.
