Rapp joins Hanson’s Seattle-area office
SEATTLE — Christopher Rapp, EIT, railroad designer, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Seattle regional office, serving the firm’s railway market. His responsibilities include assisting with construction documents and field support for railroad track and bridge projects in the Pacific Northwest.
Prior to joining Hanson, Rapp was a graduate research assistant at the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He assisted with research on the design of concrete crossties and elastic fastening systems for high-speed rail corridors that will be used by passenger and freight trains. He also was an engineering intern for HiFive Development Services Inc. in Mason, Ohio, where he performed estimates for construction drawings; and for TEC Engineering Inc. in Springdale, Ohio, where he collected and processed geographic information system (GIS) data.
Rapp has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a master’s degree in civil engineering from UIUC. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and serves on its Committee 30: Ties.
