SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Deb Ramsey, P.E., project manager, recently celebrated 20 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., headquarters.

Ramsey joined Hanson in 1993. She has extensive experience in process design and operation, construction management and project startup. She manages a variety of projects, with an emphasis on the treatment of water, wastewater and hazardous and industrial waste. She has been involved with the decommissioning of the former Kerr-McGee site in West Chicago, Ill., since she joined Hanson. She managed audits conducted at precast concrete plants in 46 states, two Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico for the National Precast Concrete Association during the past five years, a project that recently received a State Finalist Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana’s Engineering Excellence Awards.

She also has managed several demolition projects, including for a frozen-food facility in Mattoon, Ill., and for the Holiday Inn Holidome and the FS feed mill, both in Springfield. In 2002, she provided technical review and recommendations for improving a potable water-treatment system in Svitlovodsk, Ukraine, Springfield’s sister city, and reviewed municipal wastewater treatment plant operations there.

She also has been extensively involved with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She served as a project officer in 2004 for Hurricane Ivan FEMA disaster assistance in Alabama’s Mobile County. She was an instructor for “Just in Time” disaster training in Washington, D.C., in 2005 and for public-assistance operations classes in Alabama and Kansas in 2007. She also spent four months in 2011 as a project specialist in South Dakota, which had experienced statewide flooding.

Prior to joining Hanson, Ramsey was city engineer for Staunton, Ill., and a process engineer and production supervisor for Monsanto Co.

Ramsey earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical and petroleum refining engineering in 1978 from the Colorado School of Mines. She also earned a Master of Business Administration in 1984 and a master’s degree in environmental studies in 1986 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
