Oglesby marks 55 years at Hanson Professional Services Inc.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Don Oglesby, P.E., retired S.E., senior geotechnical engineer, recently celebrated 55 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc. Throughout his career, he has served as a senior vice president, manager of the Professional and Technical Services Department, and member of Hanson’s board of directors.
His vast experience includes geotechnical, environmental and structural engineering work. He has served as a managing/design engineer on numerous projects including transportation facilities, roadways, dams, bridges and retaining walls, and structures requiring specialized foundations.
His career highlights include serving as project manager on the Ruck-A-Chucky cable-stayed bridge on the North Branch of the American River near Auburn, Calif., which was designed to provide a roadway link across a 400-foot-deep reservoir. He served as project manager for two Illinois site characterization studies for the Central Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact Commission and for one Vermont site characterization study for the Vermont Low-Level Radioactive Waste Authority. He also served as a project engineer responsible for the stability analyses of the 170-foot-high earth and rockfill Hatillo Dam and the 230-foot-high zoned earthfill Sabaneta Dam, both constructed in the Dominican Republic.
Oglesby has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s degree in soil mechanics and foundation engineering, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
