Messmore celebrates 20 years with Hanson’s Chicago regional office

OAK BROOK, Ill. — James Messmore, P.E., senior vice president, recently celebrated 20 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Chicago regional office.

Messmore joined the company in 1995. Prior to joining the firm, he was a project manager for IBM’s Real Estate and Construction Division in White Plains, N.Y., and managed a consulting engineering firm’s Chicago division. At Hanson, he oversees projects and manages staff at the Chicago regional office.

He has been involved in a variety of transportation-related projects, including serving as principal-in-charge for the widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, Kane and McHenry counties and of a 3.6-mile section of the South Tri-State Tollway in Cook County, which involved the design of the Halsted Street interchange; improvements for BNSF Railway Co. intermodal facilities in the Chicago area; and Project Hoosier Safely Acting for Everyone Together (SAFE-T) in Indiana.

Messmore received bachelor’s degrees in biology in 1978 from Illinois Wesleyan University and in civil engineering in 1985 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies and serves as the vice chair of the Risk Mangement Committee; the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois, for which he is a past president; the American Society of Civil Engineers; the National Society of Professional Engineers; the Maintenance of Way Club of Chicago; and the University of Illinois Civil Engineering Alumni Association. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois.
