Knutelski celebrates 15 years with Hanson
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — James Knutelski, P.E., G.E., geotechnical engineer, recently celebrated 15 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., headquarters.
Prior to joining the company in 2000, Knutelski worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a construction inspector in Hannibal, Mo., and a resident engineer in Rolla, Mo. At Hanson, he performs geotechnical and forensic engineering investigations; provides foundation, geotechnical and seismic design recommendations; inspects the safety of dams and levees; and manages construction inspection services.
He has provided services for projects including the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Simmons Cancer Institute in Springfield; the Illinois Army National Guard’s Shiloh Readiness Center in Shiloh, Ill.; Union Pacific’s Proviso Third Main track addition for the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program from Elmhurst, Ill., to Melrose Park, Ill.; Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory’s New Muon Laboratory in Batavia, Ill.; geotechnical and subsurface investigations for Ameren; various projects across the country for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and the proposed replacement of the Interstate 74 bridge over the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities.
He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering in 1991 and 2002, respectively, from the University of Missouri – Rolla. He is a licensed professional engineer in Alaska, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri and a licensed civil engineer and geotechnical engineer in California. He is a member of the American Society of Testing and Materials, Association of State Dam Safety Officials and Deep Foundations Institute.
