Knoedler celebrates 40 years at Hanson
RALEIGH, N.C. — Robert Knoedler, P.E., EMP, CxA, vice president and principal of commissioning and energy-related services, recently celebrated 40 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.
Knoedler, who works at Hanson’s office in Raleigh, joined the firm in 1977. He has provided commissioning and energy-related services for public- and private-sector clients for various buildings and facilities, including Sandy Grove Middle School in Lumber Bridge, which is the first net-positive energy, LEED® Platinum designed, leased public school in the U.S.; numerous universities and colleges in North Carolina; SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois; Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida; the new South Airport Complex and Terminal C at Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida; the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto; and diplomatic facilities projects worldwide for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Building Operations.
Knoedler received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1975 and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1978, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including North Carolina; an Energy Management Professional (EMP); and a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA). He is past president of the Southeast Region Chapter of the Building Commissioning Association and a member of the AABC Commissioning Group, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s Atlanta Chapter, ASHRAE, Energy Management Association, Haywood County Health and Human Services Agency Board, National Society of Professional Engineers and the University of Illinois Foundation.
