Jones marks five years of service at Hanson
OAK BROOK, Ill. — Matthew Jones, PLS, EIT, civil designer and land surveyor, recently celebrated five years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Chicago regional office.
Jones joined the company’s St. Louis regional office in 2009 and transferred in 2010 to the Chicago regional office, where he serves the infrastructure market. Prior to joining Hanson, he worked for a civil engineering firm in the Chicago area as a survey crew chief and project surveyor. He also worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), for which he was involved in roadway inspections, materials testing, cross-sectioning and grading.
At Hanson, he has been a civil designer for a variety of work, including multiple Illinois Tollway projects such as the reconstruction and widening of Interstate 90; IDOT projects such as the reconstruction of Interstate 74; and design and construction projects for the village of Hillside, Ill., including the village’s geographic information system. He also is an auditor for the National Precast Concrete Association’s quality control program. He has been a surveyor and data collector for projects, including IDOT’s statewide outdoor advertising control program; the Missouri Department of Transportation’s 2009 photogrammetric surveys; and multiple hydrographic and hydrologic surveys in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Jones received an associate degree in engineering studies in 2000 from Lake Land College and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with a specialization in land surveying, in 2003 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
