Illinois Tollway awards contract for Tri-State project to Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hanson Professional Services Inc., in a joint venture with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. and EFK Moen LLC, will provide master plan and design corridor management services under a $38 million contract for the Illinois Tollway’s central Tri-State Tollway rebuilding project.

Starting in 2020, the Tollway plans to reconstruct the central portion of the Tri-State (Interstate 294) for 22 miles, from Balmoral Avenue (Interstate 90) to 95th Street. The project is part of the 15-year, $12 billion Move Illinois capital program and is expected to take two years to construct. The Tri-State, which was built in 1958, is one of the most heavily traveled highways in the U.S.

The contract for Hanson, Jacobs and EFK Moen covers about half the length of the project corridor. Hanson will serve as the design corridor manager for the entire 22-mile project. The contract is one of four the Tollway awarded July 23 for master planning and design services for the central Tri-State rebuilding, totaling $106 million in engineering contracts.

“Hanson is proud to continue contributing to the Tollway’s progressive Move Illinois program. As an Illinois-headquartered firm, we appreciate the Tollway’s investment in our state’s transportation system and look forward to the long-term economic development it will generate,” said Jeff Ball, P.E., executive vice president and markets leader at Hanson.

Hanson is a national, employee-owned consulting firm providing engineering, planning and allied services. The firm’s corporate headquarters is located at 1525 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL 62703. The office may be reached by phone at (217) 788-2450.
