SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Two employees who work at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters recently celebrated service anniversaries with the firm.

Thomas Havenar, P.E., S.E., chief bridge engineer, marked 35 years with the company. Prior to joining Hanson in 1981, he was a bridge engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation. At Hanson, he designs bridges and retaining walls and provides seismic analyses for transportation projects. He has worked on projects including the Clark Bridge replacement in Alton, the Paducah and Louisville Railroad relocation for the Kentucky Dam lock addition on the Tennessee River in Kentucky and the Tanana River Bridge in Salcha, Alaska, for the Alaska Railroad Corp’s Northern Rail Extension. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1979 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Illinois, and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Rhonald Hasenyager, P.G., R.G., senior geologist, has been with Hanson for 10 years. He joined the firm in 2006 after working as a hydrogeologist for engineering firms in Springfield and Peoria. His responsibilities at Hanson include designing and performing subsurface investigations, analyzing groundwater and soil analysis data, environmental permitting, aquifer testing, developing groundwater remediation and mitigation plans and performing groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport modeling. He has provided services for projects including the Mississippi River bridge replacement from Moline to Bettendorf, Iowa, Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 294) roadway and bridge widening in Chicago, multiple coal-combustion residual management projects for several power-generation companies in the Midwest and various work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology in 1987 from Northern Illinois University and in 1990 from Purdue University, respectively. He is a licensed professional geologist in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Wisconsin and a registered geologist in Missouri. He is a member of the American Geophysical Union, Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists, Illinois Groundwater Association and National Ground Water Association.
