Haughn becomes Certified Commissioning Authority, Energy Management Professional
MAITLAND, Fla. — Danny Haughn, EMP, CxA, CBCP, GGP, GPCP, LEED AP® BD+C, a commissioning specialist at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Orlando, Fla., regional office, recently became a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) through the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG). He also has earned an Energy Management Professional (EMP) certification from the Energy Management Association (EMA).
The ACG is a nonprofit association dedicated to the advancement of independent, third-party commissioning professionals. Its ACG CxA certification recognizes individuals who understand the building commissioning process and possess the organizational, documentation, communications and team-building skills necessary to lead and coordinate an effective commissioning team and to determine that the building owner’s intent is achieved.
The EMA is an organization that is focused on the development of quality energy management processes and services that are used to help building owners optimize energy savings while maintaining peak building performance. The EMP certification is given to individuals who demonstrate the requisite skills and knowledge of the energy management process and will be advocates for building owners.
Haughn joined Hanson in 1997 and specializes in providing commissioning services for buildings, data centers and research facilities. He also has designed communications, electrical, lighting and power systems for commercial, educational, health-care, industrial and military facilities. He has more than 35 years of combined experience as an engineering designer and commissioning specialist.
Haughn received an associate degree from Valencia College and a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Daytona State College. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Stetson University. He also is a certified building commissioning professional (CBCP) through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), a certified Green Globes Professional (GGP) and Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP) through the Green Building Initiative™ and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional with a Building Design + Construction (LEED® AP BD+C) specialty through the U.S. Green Building Council. He is a member of the EMA, the AEE and the Building Commissioning Association and is a charter member of the Institute of Energy Managers.
