Bastian earns commissioning authority certification

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jeff Bastian, CxA, a commissioning specialist at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., headquarters, recently became a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) through the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG).

The ACG is a nonprofit association dedicated to the advancement of independent, third-party commissioning professionals. The CxA certification recognizes individuals who understand the building commissioning process and possess the organizational, documentation, communications and team-building skills necessary to lead and coordinate an effective commissioning team and to determine that the building owner’s intent is achieved.

Bastian joined Hanson in 2010 and provides project management and commissioning services, including testing heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), building automation, mechanical and refrigeration systems. He has worked on commissioning projects including the Illinois Army National Guard’s Combined Service and Maintenance Support and Allied Trades buildings at Camp Lincoln and Springfield Clinic’s 1st North medical office building, all in Springfield; Eastern Illinois University’s Renewable Energy Center and several campus facilities, all in Charleston, Ill.; Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Science Building; and the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Ill. He is providing services for the University of Illinois Springfield’s planned Student Union facility in Springfield.
