Hanson’s DeJarld named Civil Engineer of the Year

PEORIA, Ill. — The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Central Illinois Section, recently recognized Thomas DeJarld, P.E., S.E., M.ASCE, with its 2010 Civil Engineer of the Year award.  DeJarld is a senior structural engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Peoria, Ill.  DeJarld specifically was recognized for his contributions to engineering projects nationwide, involvement in professional development associations, and volunteerism in the community.

In his award nomination, DeJarld was recognized for earning respect and admiration from peers and clients. Many of Hanson’s clients request that DeJarld work on their projects. As one client remarked, “Tom DeJarld is one of the most thorough, professional and cooperative consultants with whom we have ever worked. Tom always does an excellent job.”

DeJarld is a member of ASCE (past branch committee chairman), the American Institute of Steel Construction, and Building Officials Code Administrators. He also recently was elected to the city of Peoria’s Construction Commission until 2014. 

DeJarld has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
