Hanson to provide more asset management for U.S. Army pavements

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District has retained Hanson Professional Services Inc. to continue providing asset management services for pavements at the 340-square-mile U.S. Army installation Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

Hanson has been providing pavement condition index surveys — including database verification and updates — and analysis to help the Army and Air Force manage their pavement assets since 2012. The firm has covered more than 9 million square yards of roads, parking lots and tank trails at Fort Hood, one of the largest U.S. military installations in the world.

The Hanson team documents and delivers this information to the Army’s leaders using MicroPAVER so that they can make management decisions based on accurate data. MicroPAVER is a pavement asset management database developed by the Corps.

“The military has to work with limited maintenance and repair budgets, so this tool helps them prioritize and make effective decisions,” said Hanson’s Project Manager Joseph Worley, P.E. “It includes a long-term pavement management program that allows the owner to accurately identify future pavement needs and establish realistic budgets for their capital improvement projects.”

Hanson has provided these services at Fort Hood under three task orders during a three-year period through an indefinite quantity contract with the Corps’ Transportation Systems Center.

Hanson is a national, employee-owned consulting firm providing engineering, planning and allied services. The firm’s corporate headquarters is located at 1525 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL 62703. The office may be reached by phone at (217) 788-2450.
