Hanson’s Jeff Ball named Engineer of the Year
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jeff Ball, P.E., senior vice president and principal of infrastructure services at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently was named Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Central Illinois Section.
Ball was recognized for numerous engineering achievements, including supervising high-profile projects such as the Interstate 55 widening, the MacArthur Boulevard extension, and the Capitol Avenue Corridor, all located in Springfield, Ill.
Joining Hanson in 1991, Ball is an active ASCE member, serving in 17 volunteer positions for the organization throughout his career, including director and president of the Central Illinois Section. He also volunteers and participates in many community and professional organizations, including the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois, American Public Works Association, Illinois Municipal League, and Downtown Springfield Inc.
His past award recognitions include the Patriotic Employer award from the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve; Forty Under 40 recognition from the Springfield, Ill., Business Journal; Outstanding Chapter Member award from the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers; and the Illinois Young Engineer of the Year award from the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.
Ball has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
