Hanson project featured on the 2010 Springfield, Ill., ornament
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The 2010 Springfield, Ill., city ornament, issued by St. Joseph’s Home, depicts the colonnade at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS). Hanson Professional Services Inc., headquartered in Springfield, Ill., provided architectural design as well as civil, structural, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the colonnade.
The UIS colonnade has become the identifying feature of the UIS campus and a focal point, tying all the varied campus building types into a unified campus setting.
The city of Springfield’s Mayor Tim Davlin proclaimed the ornament the “official city of Springfield ornament for 2010” during a ceremony on Oct. 13.
The ornament is a project of St. Joseph’s Home, a not-for-profit nursing home established in Springfield in 1903. Each 24-karat gold-plated ornament comes in a green velvet-lined box and includes a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
The ornaments will be produced in a limited edition of 5,000 pieces. Ornaments may be ordered online at www.saintjosephshome.org or www.abelincoln.com.
