Ball celebrates 25 years at Hanson’s headquarters

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jeff Ball, P.E., F.ASCE, Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s president and markets leader, recently celebrated 25 years of service at the company’s Springfield headquarters.

Ball, who joined Hanson as a civil and transportation engineer in 1991, has managed many high-profile infrastructure projects and public-involvement campaigns nationwide. In 2005, he was named a senior vice president and principal of the company’s infrastructure market. He was elected to Hanson’s board of directors in 2012 and president of the company earlier this year. As markets leader, he oversees the firm’s seven markets: aviation, federal, government and energy, infrastructure, power and industry, railway and telecommunications. He also provides leadership for the markets’ business development and develops strategies and resources to enhance and sustain growth and profitability.

Ball is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a member and past president of the organization’s Central Illinois Section and its West Branch; in 2012, the section named him Engineer of the Year. He also is a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers’ Capital Chapter, from which he received the Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award in 2015; the National Society of Professional Engineers; the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois; and the American Public Works Association. He serves on Downtown Springfield Inc.’s Board of Trustees and was named the organization’s Volunteer of the Year in 2013. He was chairman of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce’s (GSCC) Board of Directors in 2013-14 and is a member of the organization’s Quantum Growth Partnership (Q5) Executive Council. He also was chairman of Q5’s Community Impact Council. He is chairman of the Community Development Corp. board — a joint venture between the GSCC and The Springfield Project — and a member of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale College of Engineering Industry Advisory Board. In 2008, he received the Patriotic Employer award from the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Ball received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1991 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Iowa.
