ACEC of Illinois recognizes Hanson with Honor Award
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) recently recognized Hanson Professional Services Inc. during the organization’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards.
Hanson is the recipient of an Honor Award for a geothermal energy project at Camp Lincoln, the Illinois Army National Guard’s headquarters in Springfield, Ill. The building, which also houses the Illinois Department of Military Affairs, had an aging heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system and failing chiller that made heating and cooling the 74,000-square-foot facility a challenge. The building was one of the Guard’s highest energy users. The Guard selected Hanson to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services and grant-funding assistance for a geothermal system. Hanson designed a hybrid geothermal variable refrigerant flow system to serve the Guard’s immediate needs while allowing for future expansions to the building’s entire system.
ACEC-IL also recognized an Illinois Tollway project with an Honor Award. Hanson provided services for the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway’s western corridor as part of a team that includes 19 design and construction prime firms. The tollway, a portion of Interstate 90 in the Chicago area, has undergone improvements that included widening and reconstruction in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties. Hanson provided final design engineering services for the preparation of contract plans and specifications for the 22-mile-long segment between Genoa Road and Illinois 47.
ACEC is a professional organization of 51 state and regional councils with members from more than 5,000 engineering firms across the U.S. The annual Engineering Excellence Awards recognizes outstanding achievements from member firms. ACEC-IL Honor Award winners are eligible for the national competition.
