Naismith/Hanson’s Gavlik honoree of Corpus Christi Under 40 award
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Melanie Gavlik, P.E., a water resources engineer at Naismith/Hanson’s Corpus Christi office, recently was named an honoree of the Corpus Christi Under 40 award.
The annual awards, created in 2006, recognize Coastal Bend residents who are under the age of 40 and have demonstrated dedication to their careers and communities. Gavlik and 39 other young professionals were announced as the honorees Dec. 7 during an event at Executive Surf Club. They will be recognized Feb. 2 at the annual Corpus Christi Under 40 Awards breakfast at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, during which one of the honorees will be named the Person of the Year.
Gavlik joined Naismith Engineering Inc. in 2005. Naismith joined Hanson Professional Services Inc., a national engineering, planning and allied services consulting firm headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, in September. She has primarily provided engineering services for water and wastewater projects, including distribution and collection lines, lift stations and treatment facilities, as well as utility rate studies and impact fee analysis and water system modeling.
Gavlik received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University – Kingsville and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas. She is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE); the American Society of Civil Engineers, for which she is the 2017 marketing chair for the Texas Section’s annual meeting; and the Corpus Christi Education Foundation board. She received the 2015 Young Engineer of the Year award from the TSPE Nueces County Chapter and is a graduate Leadership Corpus Christi Class 44.
