English joins Hanson Professional Services Inc.

ST. LOUIS — Ryan English, a civil intern, recently joined Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s St. Louis office, serving Hanson’s Department of Defense market. His responsibilities include providing geotechnical service support, including analysis, design, site exploration and document preparation. He currently is assisting with an 8-mile-long embankment system for Devils Lake, N.D., for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 

His experience includes working as a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, where he conducted laboratory experiments and field surveys, and performed field testing. He also wrote a thesis, “Resilient Modulus of Wisconsin Fine-Grained Soils.”  Additionally, he has served as a field technician, where he sampled and tested concrete on-site as well as performed nuclear density gauge testing and laboratory soil testing.

English has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering, both from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. He also is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
