Fletcher celebrates 25 years at Hanson

PEORIA, Ill. — Mat Fletcher, P.E., S.E., a senior vice president and the railway market principal at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated 25 years of service with the company.

Fletcher, who joined Hanson in 1999 and works at the Peoria office, directs the firm's business development efforts and operations serving the railroad industry nationwide. During his career, he has provided services for more than 200 projects, including numerous rail bridges throughout the U.S.; work for Union Pacific Railroad for the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency program; additional BNSF bridges to relieve rail traffic congestion in Sandpoint, Idaho, which includes a 4,875-foot bridge over Lake Pend Oreille; and the emergency repair of Norfolk Southern Corp.’s bridge over the Grand River near Brunswick, Missouri, which received the Dr. William W. Hay Award for Excellence from the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA).

Fletcher received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1993 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in civil engineering in 2000 from Bradley University. He is a licensed professional engineer in 13 states, including Illinois, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and he is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois and Nevada. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and AREMA, serving on its Committee 15: Steel Structures and as chair of Subcommittee 1: Design.
