Houston Public Works adopts asset management decision support tool
Houston Public Works has secured a decision support tool, Decision Optimization Technology (DOT™), to help the organization plan and prioritize capital improvement pavement rehabilitations for the city’s 16,000 lane miles of roadway. DOT™’s customizable platform will enable Houston Public Works to analyze its asset life cycles, incorporate socioeconomic and community impact policies in its plans, determine the right treatment at the right time, reduce the risk of failure on vital assets and extend the service life of its road and bridge network. Houston Public Works will use DOT™ to help the city produce detailed reports, maps and dashboard visuals that can be used to inform the public and policymakers about planned improvements under the mayor’s Street Rehabilitation Initiative.
The decision support tool was procured under a professional engineering services contract for street data collection and pavement management, led by Data Transfer Solutions LLC.
