Pochop celebrates 25 years at Hanson

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Michael Pochop, P.E., vice president, senior project manager and railway operations lead, recently celebrated 25 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.

Pochop, who joined the company in 1998 and works at the Kansas City office, served in three other offices, two of which he helped open. He has provided services for projects including the Alaska Railroad Corp.’s Port MacKenzie Rail Extension in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in Alaska and Northern Rail Extension, which includes the Tanana River Bridge in Salcha, Alaska; crane foundation repairs at BNSF Railway Co.’s Logistics Park Kansas City; expansion and upgrade of Kansas City Southern de Mexico’s Sanchez Yard near Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico; and the expansion of Union Pacific Railroad’s North Little Rock Yard, and he has served as a project manager for Kansas City Southern Railway Co. He serves as the operations lead for Hanson’s railway services unit and coordinates Hanson’s services for three Class 1 railroads.

He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1991 from Iowa State University and is a licensed professional engineer in Missouri, Iowa, Texas, Washington and Alaska. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and is the project manager of its Railway Engineering Education Symposium. He also is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
