Dittmer celebrates 30 years of service at Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Judy Dittmer, P.E., civil engineer, recently celebrated 30 years of service at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield, Ill., headquarters.

Dittmer joined the company in 1984. She has provided site development, roadway and railroad design for many projects, including the Interstate 55 bridge over Lake Springfield, the MacArthur Boulevard extension and the Capital City Railroad Relocation project, all in Springfield; the Clark Bridge in Alton, Ill.; the Interstate 90 widening and reconstruction in Boone, McHenry and Kane counties in Illinois; the Interstate 74 reconstruction through downtown Peoria, Ill.; and the Paducah and Louisville (P&L) Railroad relocation for the Kentucky Dam lock addition on the Tennessee River in Kentucky.

She wrote a children’s book about the P&L project titled “Gong Gong and the P&L Railroad” that chronicles the work Hanson and she performed on the $94 million relocation.

Dittmer earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanics in 1982 and a master’s degree in theoretical and applied mathematics in 1983, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
