Dams and levees

Dam and levee inspections

Your dam or levee inspection requires experienced personnel to review the design documents used for facility construction, meet the project’s regulatory requirements, identify any facility modifications that may require additional consideration and observe the various components of the facilities and determine if they continue to meet your design intent. Our experienced personnel have provided dam and levee inspection services for public and private clients in several U.S. states, and we walk beside you through the process.

The regulatory agency with jurisdiction over your levee or dam typically dictates the required frequency of inspections. We generate reports that include the facility’s condition, deficiencies and our recommendations for remediation, as well as physical documentation, such as photographs. Levee reports can also include geographic information system data and information for some facilities.

Dam and levee design

We recognize that dam and levee design requires several engineering disciplines: geotechnical design of foundations; embankment and seepage analysis; structural design of spillway structures; mechanical design of gated structures; and water resources analysis of water inflow and hydraulic capacity of dam components, including spillway, emergency overflow and drawdown.

Levee design requires similar specialization, as well as the structural design of conveyance structures, mechanical design of pump stations, analysis of water inflow and hydraulic capacity of internal drainage systems and internal and external stream hydrology.
