An engineering graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Steve started his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps. His early career exposure to public works management, U.S. Navy Seabees and construction contract administration provided a great foundation for working in the built environment as he progressed into consulting engineering. Steve has worked on an array of project types, including a mix of horizontal and vertical projects for public and private clients.
As senior vice president and the government principal for Hanson, Steve heads the firm’s federal and government services market nationwide, drawing on decades of experience with large-scale project management and funding, contract administration, construction management and organizational leadership. He was elected to Hanson’s board of directors in 2022.
Steve is an active member of the Society of American Military Engineers Minneapolis-St. Paul Post and received its Regional Vice President’s Medal in 2011. He also was named the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command’s 2000 Federal Engineer of the Year. He works remotely for Hanson in Minnesota, where he’s learned to embrace the winter weather as a member of the National Ski Patrol and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.
