Jonathan serves as Hanson’s commissioning and energy technical discipline chief. Based in the Maitland, Florida, office, he leads Hanson’s building commissioning and energy technical discipline, providing commissioning services, energy analysis, energy systems planning and mechanical system peer and design reviews.

A mechanical engineer with extensive experience in building systems, Jonathan specializes in heating, ventilating and air-conditioning; design; construction contract administration; building energy analysis; and electrical, plumbing and fire protection system commissioning. Prior to joining Hanson in 2014, he worked at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center, where he performed energy audits and retro-commissioning for critical facilities.

At Hanson, Jonathan manages the development of all commissioning-related documents, including commissioning plans, checklists and test procedures. He collaborates closely with owners, architects, engineers and contractors to guide them through the commissioning process and performs jobsite visits to verify installations, complete checklists, conduct testing and prepare commissioning reports.

OPEN AND TRANSPARENT COMMUNICATION“A successful commissioning process is all about the communication: getting the right people talking to each other. The more open and transparent the overall communication is, the more value commissioning adds to the project.”

Jonathan’s project experience includes Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C, more than 20 Orange County Public Schools facilities, the University of Florida’s Malachowsky Hall for Data Science and Information Technology and Florida Power & Light Co.’s office and data center in Palm Beach Gardens.

Jonathan is proficient in Trane TRACE 700 energy analysis software and is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers. A recognized industry leader in building commissioning, he helped develop the Associated Air Balance Council Commissioning Group’s Building Systems Commissioning Guideline, providing content for Subsection 4.2.2: Cooling Equipment (Central Plant) under Section 4: Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Systems in the guideline’s Part II: Applying the Commissioning Process to Specific Buildings Systems.
