John is a vice president and senior project manager who leads operations for Hanson’s Chicago regional office while managing large, complex transportation infrastructure projects. Since joining Hanson in 1999, he has successfully delivered major interstate and tollway improvements, leading multidisciplinary teams and applying innovative delivery methods to meet accelerated schedules.

With more than 40 years of experience, John specializes in highway and bridge design, maintenance of traffic, interchange improvements, tollway facilities, traffic systems and utility coordination. His project leadership includes some of the Midwest’s most significant transportation investments, including the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294), the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90), the South Tri-State Tollway, the Interstate 74 Mississippi River Bridge corridor and the North-South Tollway Extension (I-355).
A recognized industry leader, John received the 2023 ACEC Illinois Chair Award for his exceptional service as board chair, national director and committee leader. In 2025, he was elected to the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) College of Fellows, one of the organization’s highest honors, recognizing his distinguished contributions to the engineering profession and the industry. He has also played a key role in advancing transportation policy, supporting infrastructure investment and promoting the recruitment and retention of engineering talent. John remains active in several professional organizations, including ACEC Illinois, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
