Environmental Assessment Discipline Manager Jeff Bushur has been guiding Hanson’s clients through the complexities of environmental planning and permitting since 2000. Jeff specializes in the preparation of environmental assessments and other National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for highway feasibility and location studies, and his experience covers a wide range of environmental services, including Section 404 permitting; wetland mitigation; and the preparation of environmental assessments, environmental impact statements and other NEPA documents for transportation-related studies. In addition to leading a group of environmental scientists and specialists as part of Hanson’s environmental assessment discipline, Jeff conducts water quality analyses, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, environmental permitting and mitigation design, with a focus on transportation projects.
As an environmental specialist and technical expert, Jeff has contributed to projects such as the Springfield Rail Improvements Project, Capitol Avenue streetscape, Stanford Avenue extension and Interstate 55 reconstruction study, all in Springfield. His portfolio also includes the Macon County Beltwayin Decatur, Illinois; a dual-lane roundabout in Rockford, Illinois; the eastbound McClugage Bridge replacement and Washington Street revitalization, both in Peoria, Illinois; the Raccoon Lake restoration study in Centralia, Illinois; and the widening and reconstruction of a 22-mile section of Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) in Boone, Kane and McHenry counties in Illinois.
IN JEFF’S WORDS
“Conducting an environmental assessment or other NEPA document for a client is like putting a puzzle together. There are so many different parts that it can be very challenging, but it’s also very rewarding to receive NEPA approval for a client’s project.”
