A highly experienced project manager and roadway and drainage engineer, Clinton Smith, P.E., CFM, serves as assistant vice president and Florida disciplines manager, specializing in multi-phase, multi-discipline infrastructure projects, leading regional teams in delivering large-scale transportation and drainage solutions.

Clinton joined Hanson in 2013 following the firm’s acquisition of Jacksonville-based Bowen Civil Engineering Inc. He now leads Hanson’s Florida infrastructure team to support roadway and stormwater initiatives for local and state agencies. His experience includes roadway design, stormwater collection and management systems, utility layout, geometry layout and erosion control. He has also inspected and certified newly constructed stormwater management facilities, along with sewer and water distribution systems.

Clinton’s background centers on the integrated design of stormwater management facilities and stormwater conveyance systems for roadway facilities, including numerous large drainage projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). He is proficient in a range of engineering software applications, including ICPR, ASAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GEOPAK, StormCAD, SewerCAD and WaterCAD.

Throughout his career, Clinton has been instrumental in designing a variety of roadways to add capacity, increase safety, expand multi-modal use and enhance aesthetics throughout Eastern Florida. He has contributed to complex projects, including the terminal expansion at Jacksonville International Airport, additional lanes and a new Interstate 95 interchange for Ellis Road and drainage studies and design in Brevard County and multiple highway improvement projects for FDOT District 2.
