As Hanson’s southeast market development lead, Burns manages projects for a wide range of healthcare, education and government clients from the firm’s office in Orlando, Florida. Burns joined Hanson in 2022, bringing more than a decade of experience in the engineering industry, including several years specializing in mechanical engineering and heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems.

Burns’ background includes managing complex design and commissioning projects for building systems that meet performance and regulatory standards, particularly in clinical healthcare environments. Prior to his current role, he served as a project manager for aerospace and defense at an architecture and engineering firm in Orlando, where he successfully led intricate projects for NASA and other aerospace clients.
Burns is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional with a Building Design + Construction specialty through the U.S. Green Building Council, of which he is a member. He is also a member of ASHRAE. He volunteers as a mentor in Florida’s Take Stock in Children Program through the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools and is a graduate of Leadership Orlando Class 106. In 2025, Burns received Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine’s 2025 40 Under 40 award, which recognizes engineering and building professionals for their outstanding contributions to their professions and communities.
