Hanson’s president, COO celebrates 35 years of service
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jeff Ball, P.E., F.ASCE, Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s president and chief operating officer, recently celebrated 35 years of service at the company.
Ball, who joined Hanson in 1991 and works at the Springfield headquarters, has managed many high-profile infrastructure projects and public-involvement campaigns nationwide. In 2005, he was named a senior vice president and principal of the company’s infrastructure market. He was elected to Hanson’s board of directors in 2012 and became president and chief operating officer of the company in 2016. He oversees the firm’s administrative functions, information technology department, project management office and six markets: aviation, government, industry, infrastructure, power and railway. He also works with the markets to develop strategies and resources to enhance and sustain growth and profitability.
Ball is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and in 2012, the Central Illinois Section named him Engineer of the Year. He also is a member of the Engineering Society of Illinois’ Capital Chapter, from which he received the Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award in 2015; the National Society of Professional Engineers; the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL); and the American Public Works Association. He is a member of ACEC-IL’s board of directors, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, Southern Illinois University Carbondale College of Engineering, Computing, Technology and Mathematics Industrial Advisory Board and the University of Illinois Springfield College of Business and Management Dean’s Advisory Board. In 2008, he received the Patriotic Employer award from the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Ball received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1991 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Illinois.
