City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) chose Hanson to design, purchase and install EV charging stations at several locations around the city as part of the objective to increase electric vehicle (EV) ownership and use and promote Springfield, Illinois, as an EV-friendly city.

Hanson achieved the goal for a turnkey finished product, including equipment, site assessment and planning, software and networking, signage, parking stall reconfiguration, permitting, compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act parking requirements and customer service.

STRENGTHENING THE LOCAL ECONOMY“The greatest impact of this project is that it does more than support electric-vehicle adoption. It helps strengthen our local economy. By strategically installing public charging stations near downtown destinations, retail centers, parks and educational institutions, EV drivers can visit local businesses for shopping and dining while their vehicles charge. The project promotes Springfield as an EV-friendly community while encouraging visitors and residents to spend more time supporting local businesses.” — Tom Chi, project manager II-smart cities, CWLP
