Hanson partnered with the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) to assemble the Airside Planning, Design, Construction, Operations and Maintenance WebResource, a single source of more than 600 resources from organizations including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the International Civil Aviation Organization, the Airport Consultants Council and departments of transportation for a wide range of aviation professionals.
The easily searchable online repository contains documents, guidance, memos and other resources related to airside planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance, including security considerations.
The research for the WebResource involved significant industry outreach, including virtual group interviews with a broad cross-section of 40 aviation industry professionals and others across 22 states from Alaska to Florida, including FAA and state staff, airport managers and executive directors, airport operations and maintenance personnel, private engineers and planners, tower operators, professors, students, a contractor and an attorney.
Hanson also refined a taxonomy for the resources and implemented categorization, keyword tagging and other methods to enable efficient and accurate searching for WebResource users.
The repository features a multilayered filtering system that allows searches by keyword, author, project phase and functional area. Users can also access an interactive airport map with various airside elements, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars and navigational aids.
