Our Corpus Christi Water/Wastewater Engineering discipline includes Civil and Environmental Engineers who plan, design, and prepare construction documents for a variety of municipal and industrial water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Typical projects include water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, pump stations, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and related utility infrastructure. Design responsibilities may include process and hydraulic analysis, pipeline design, pump sizing and selection, utility coordination, permitting support, and construction documentation. This work often uses software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic modeling programs, ArcGIS Pro and related engineering design tools.
Key Responsibilities: Water/Wastewater Engineering interns will be expected to perform the following key responsibilities with supervision and assistance from a Hanson Professional Engineer:
- Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering reports, studies, permit applications, and technical memoranda.
- Coordinate with material and equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
- Performing and/or reviewing calculations related to water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, hydraulic analysis, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
- Utilizing engineering software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic modeling software, ArcGIS Pro and related design tools.
- Conducting field investigations and/or site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
- Documenting and/or observing construction operations and assisting with construction phase services.
- Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.
Qualifications:
- Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil or environmental engineering program.
- The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university.
Key requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
The hourly range for this position is $21 – $26 per hour for undergraduates. $30 – $40 per hour for postgraduates.
