Dennis Hollahan

Dennis Hollahan serves as a senior vice president and the company's chief risk officer and general counsel. He joined Hanson in 2008 as a land acquisition project manager, working on projects for clients including the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois Tollway and Illinois county and municipal highway departments. In 2017, he was named Hanson’s first in-house legal counsel, as well as a vice president and secretary, and was elected to the company's board of directors. As general counsel, he leads corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives, provides senior management with advice on company strategies and implementation and oversees the work of outside counsel.

Prior to joining Hanson, Dennis served as the section chief, land acquisition and property management, and as special assistant chief counsel for IDOT. While in private law practice, Dennis worked as a general practitioner and litigator throughout Illinois’ 8th Judicial Circuit.

Dennis was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and a helicopter pilot during Desert Storm. He later served as a judge advocate general for the Illinois Army National Guard.
