“A building’s structure tells the story of its history, what it’s been through. As a project manager and structural engineer, I’ve had the privilege to evaluate and design solutions for a variety of buildings that have experienced different degrees of deterioration. Being able to help bring them back to their former aesthetic and continue their functionality has been a highlight of my career.”
Who We Are
Passion drives performance. At Hanson, our excitement for what we do enhances the results we bring to our clients. Whether we’re designing a major expressway, helping a municipality plan for the future of its infrastructure, talking with the public about a community project or wading into a stream to collect samples for an aquatic survey, we’re invested in working with you to make our planet a cleaner, kinder, more sustainable place for future generations.
How we got here
Our story began in 1954, when Walter Hanson’s civil engineering ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to start our company with two other engineers. The trio’s first job involved designing 56 bridges for the Kansas Turnpike, a 236-mile-long road that was built from 1954 to 1956, before the Interstate Highway System. That project was the first of many, and we have built a reputation for technically sound solutions, practical yet progressive designs, global projects and partnerships and customer-centered service.
That history and legacy of innovation, intellectual curiosity and commitment to quality continues to motivate us every day.

You have goals; we have commitment and knowledge. Together, we have endless possibilities for your project’s success. Explore our body of work.
