Michael is a civil engineer leading Hanson’s Design Technology Group (DTG) as the design technology manager and transportation BIM manager. He has extensive experience in model-centric transportation design using Bentley OpenRoads technology. As part of the DTG team, he improves training, policy, optimization and power user development for Hanson’s primary CAD and BIM software platforms.
Michael began his career serving in the U.S. Navy for four years as a surface warfare officer, including two overseas deployments. Following his military service, he joined a general contractor as a project engineer, gaining construction management experience in the field at several Chicagoland building projects.

Since joining Hanson’s Chicago regional office in 2014, Michael has provided design services for major projects related to transportation infrastructure, including the reconstruction of the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in Cook County, Illinois; the reconstruction of I-80 over the Mississippi River in Rock Island County, Illinois and Scott County, Iowa; reconstruction of U.S. Business Route 20 in Boone County, Illinois; and several improvements for the Illinois Tollway in the greater Chicago area.
In 2024, Michael became Hanson’s first digital delivery manager for surface transportation, working to enhance Hanson’s BIM for infrastructure capabilities. He was elevated to design technology manager in 2026 with the formation of the DTG.
Michael also successfully completed the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association’s Emerging Leaders Program in 2024, gaining broad industry knowledge.
